    UI/UX Designer (start-up)

A London start-up is seeking a fulltime UI/UX Designer for a new type of search engine. It’s along similar lines to how Skyscanner finds all the flights, Indeed the Jobs and Youtube the videos. This search engine is what people have been looking for. The CEO and founder has been working this idea for many years watching the market, but nothing comes close. The BETA site launched late last year, and is getting its second round of funding. The UI/UX designer will be the first in their space and the designer will be working on creating the best intuitive search experience. There is a team of up to x15 who are ex - Google, Ebay and Amazon. Like Harrison Ford in Star Wars (New Hope) the team took a low paying role but knew the outcome would be truly rewarding (share options). There is no ping pong table or fancy office, it’s truly in a start-up environment. The start-up has many European countries on-board and reaching out to South America, Asia and Africa, and soon the world.

The mission of this start-up is simple, innovative and with a lot of shared learning. There is lots of room to think outside the box and work with datasets with unlimited possibilities. The salary is competitive but not what the financial sector is paying.

The role – to own and lead on the identity of a world-class search engine. To drive innovation, creativity and deliver intuitive interfaces. You’ll be working closely with engineers, design prototypes, define the roadmap and lead on A/B testing. It’s a fast moving and challenging role. This type of role is playing the long game and could be the next big global engine.
